Born and raised in Long Island, New York where many hip hop pioneers have begun, has highly influenced my love of music. My stage name is Young Ray, and I have been in the music industry for five years so far, learning and obtaining knowledge to better myself with my career.
I began listening to “50 Cent”, “Eminem”, ”Young Jeezy”, and “Pretty Ricky”. Quickly inspired I began writing ideas down and working with making words rhyme. People then saw what my admiration was in life and turned away from me and hated the fact that I wanted to pursue music. I turned to music and writing as a way to fully express the emotions I felt. Writing poetry allowed me to show people what I am capable of doing and doing it in a positive way. Many people said what they felt with their negative opinions towards my decisions, but I didn’t allow it to bring me down. It actually gave me more motivation and more positive energy to prove everyone wrong.
When I graduated high school, I took my music to the next level. I began linking up with local artists feeling out new flows and learning new ways to approach the microphone. I then met B Divine, a producer, DJ, artist, and hip hop enthusiast. B Divine and I met at a local recording studio, and began working together each complimenting the other with our individual style of music. He introduced me on to the old school hip hop culture and opened me up to a new way of thinking. It was then that I began to collaborate with many artists of all different styles including hip hop legend, Tragedy Khadafi. I am featured on the mixtape from DJ Modesty overseas in France as well as a number of other mixtapes and have been featured on various radio shows throughout the U.S. I have been dedicating all of my time to writing, recording, and performing in order to pursue this dream, music has quickly become my life.
Since day one the progress has been nonstop, the learning experiences have boosted my ability to educate myself with a better knowledge of how to take on everyday obstacles in my life. Not only have I built a stronger mentality, but I have helped the few that stand strong by my side. I hope that in the future, I can reach out and help everyone that was once in my shoes. Let’s see where this path leads me.
Hip hop artist and Internet personality Frederick Eugene Buhl died Saturday in Renton, apparently of a self-inflicted gunshot, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s office.
On a Facebook post, Buhl’s father, Frederick Douglass Buhl, said his son was 22 years old.
The younger Buhl went by the name Freddy E. He was best known for his Internet program Jerk TV, which featured humorous and profane segments, often with a moral or cautionary message.
“Not only our family, but the world has lost a talented, sensitive, brilliant young man who lit up our existence with his,” Buhl’s father said in his post.
Nick Fletcher, of the medical examiner’s office, said an autopsy will be performed Monday.
The last messages on Freddy E’s Twitter account express despair and heartbreak. “If there’s a God then He’s calling me back home …” He told his parents he loved them. The final message: “I’m sorry.”

At only 23 years old Steven Jackson A.K.A. Un1que has accomplished a lot and proven himself to be more than a local star in his city of Winston-Salem, NC. Un1que has had many different musical backgrounds from being lead percussionist in every orchestra band he’s been a part of, to starting his own record label at the age of 19. He went on to sell over 1,000 copies of his first mixtape under the record label name (Crank Me Up Records) before his focused changed because of his lack of knowledge in music business. He then started to pursue this knowledge at Forsyth technical Community College while his buzz continued to grow without a single album or music video released yet. Continuing with his momentum he went on to join Winston World Wide in 2010, also creating the “Tear Da Stage Up” showcase & competition, then touring with Goss and Kill Yo Self Ent. to spread his name outside of his city and state. Un1que is still on the grind with another mixtape release upcoming with the “Tune My Radio”, which he produced the whole mixtape as well. Un1que is more than an artist, he’s a rising star that’s ready to let the world see him shine.

Rap star Nas attends a party in New York on July 17, 2012. Nas was supposed to be performing shows in Angola but instead spent New Year’s Eve at LeBron James’ engagement party (not pictured), lawsuit says.
Queens rapper Nas has been hit with a breach of contract lawsuit that could cost him $10 million.
The suit filed on Friday claims a New Jersey concert promoter and his son spent 50 days in custody in Angola early this year after the hip-hop star failed to show for two heavily-promoted concerts in the southern African nation.
Nas is being sued in Manhattan Federal Court by Patrick Allocco who arranged for Nas to perform two Near Year’s shows in Luanda, the nation’s capital.
At the time, Allocco told reporters that he was stuck in Angola and being held at gunpoint by a local “concert impresario” who put up the money for the concerts.
Nas got a $300,000 advance and budding rapper Jamiah Jai, who was supposed to be the opening act, got $15,000. The court papers say Nas was in Miami to attend a New Year’s Eve engagement party at the home of hoops star LeBron James.
The lawsuit says after the shows were canceled, Allocco and his son were taken into custody by Angolan authorities who refused to let them leave the country until the money was returned.
Nas and Jai did eventually repay the money.
Allocco and his son were released Feb. 18, after the State Department intervened, the lawsuit says.Nas grew up in the Queensbridge Houses in Long Island City and burst on the rap scene in 1994 with the hit album “Illmatic.”
